About Us

| | After traveling around the world for more than 28 years in the US Navy, seeing all the wonderful handcrafted items available in so many of the countries we visited, it was an easy leap to start this business. I am so excited to be able to bring these exquisite crafts to you from many of the places where we traveled. As a result, Class Act Imports was born in 2000, the year of the Dragon. | |

| About two years ago, I was peddling my wares in the student center at Worcester State College in Massachusetts when the idea of dorm pets© struck me. I discussed the concept with my family and they thought it was an intriguing idea. After weeks of research and discussion, we decided to go forward. First, we had to find a logo. For this job, we hired a brilliant graphic designer named Kristen Smith. We loved her designs. Then we needed to choose a pet. This decision was straightforward because of the years we lived in Scotland. During that time, one of the TV shows our kids watched was Blue Peter, a travel/nature show geared for kids. Blue Peter had an ongoing campaign to “Save the hedgehog.” Apparently, these little guys often fell into the cattle grates that crossed the roads all over the UK. Blue Peter wanted to make the kids aware of their plight and to help rescue them by putting a board down the side of the grate on an angle so the hedgehog could climb out. We stopped at many such grates and I am pleased to report, not one hedgehog was found dead or alive. From then on we all had a soft spot for these darling creatures and when it came time to choose our premier dorm pets© the hedgehog won hands down. To honor our wonderful Scottish friends, we chose the name Hamish. |

| Now that we have a year of dorm pets© coming to a close, it soon will be time to tell you about the newest addition to our dorm pets© family. One of the big changes this year will be both a male and a female pet. We will also be numbering the pets. They are limited because the artists can only create so many. |
